Update 7/7/2024
We are excited to announce further developments in our glamping pods project. We are planning to set up the pods on stilts with a wrap-around porch, which will offer a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape. This elevated design will give the feeling of being in a treehouse, surrounded by nature. We've always dreamed of creating a treehouse-style getaway, and this setup will bring that vision to life. The top of the hill will become the front yard for this unique rental, providing guests with a serene and picturesque environment. The wrap-around porch will be perfect for relaxing and taking in the beautiful views, whether you're enjoying your morning coffee or unwinding after a day of hiking. Stay tuned for more updates as we bring this exciting project to completion! Update 7/7/2024
We spoke with Jeff w/ JMAR Trucking and Excavating about the plans and they think the easiest access would be from the center of the road. The Tree house will be set up so you can drive through or park underneath, and follow the path to the upper lot to walk across the bridge. The Little pod cabin will be great for hikers looking to get off of the trail and clean up, or for a quick nature getaway to a unique. Update 8/7/2024
It doesn't look like we can get anyone out here until November to excavate the road, but we've picked up a mini excavator to go ahead and get the trenches dug for water/sewer/power over the next few months. It will also come in handy installing the fence and deckposts with its auger attachement. Update 8/14/2024 This past weekend we picked up a mini excavator for work around the property. We've ordered everything we need to bring the power, water, internet, and septic up from the lower lot. We're planning on heading up and trenching and burying the utilities the week of September 9th. Update 9/24/2024 We spent the better part of a week trenching and running utilities up the hill, setting up a 100-amp service from our main panel to power the future subpanel. We also ran water, sewer, and ethernet. While we were at it, we also stubbed up the utilities for a potential second pod to avoid the hassle of digging through gravel later—we learned the hard way that cleaning up gravel afterward is no fun! Excavation for the road and lot will begin Oct 27th once finished it will be ready for the pod. We expect to have it ready before the end of the year. Update 10/23/2024 Saying its been a crazy month would be an understatement, Hurricane Helene ripped through the mountains taking out electric, internet, roads, and houses. We're lucky to have escaped the worse of it but we had a small landslide on the upper lot, and out driveway down below washed out. Thanks to our wonderful neighbors at the back of the property we were able to repair the driveway in record time, and the slide has been fixed. While repairing the landslide we accidentally caught part of the new sewer line and had to replace a section but we're back to where we need to be. Next week we will be expanding the upper area, grading the road, and gravelling. Once completed, we will be ready for the glamping pods. We're still on track for January. |
